Examples of infrastructure damage from an earthquake
A Richter 6.9 earthquake on January 26 2001, centred near Bhuj in the Gujarat region of western India caused massive damage. Over 20,000 people were killed and 167,000 reported being injured. Buildings built in a round traditional style proved far more resilient than modern buildings often built with inadequate reinforcing.
