HEMNZ Gallery of Asian Tsunami 2004 - Damage and recovery efforts from the 2004 Asian Tsunami The 2004 Asian Tsunami caused widespread destruction on land bordering the Indian Ocean. Worst affected was the Aceh province of Sumatra. These photographs, many taken by Robert Patton while on assignment in Meulaboh, illustrate the damage the confusion of response; and cleaning efforts by Australian and New Zealand staff at a Banda Aceh hospital.
